🚀 1. Quick Start Guide

Welcome to Legal Intel Platform. Here's how to get up and running in under 5 minutes:

1
Upload a document — On the Upload page, enter a Case Name and drag your document into the upload area (or click to browse). Supported formats: PDF, Word (.docx), and scanned images (JPG, PNG).
2
Wait for processing — The platform extracts and indexes all text. This takes 10–60 seconds depending on document size.
3
Run AI Analysis — Once processed, choose from Summarize Document, Analyze Deposition, or Audit Medical Billing. Results appear in 30–90 seconds.
4
Generate deliverables — Use the Demand Package, Timeline, or Compare tools from the navigation bar.
5
Export your work — Download AI analysis results as Word or PowerPoint documents for use in client communications.
💡 Tip: Always review and verify all AI-generated content before relying on it in any legal matter. All outputs should be treated as a first draft requiring attorney review.

📋 2. Document Upload & Processing

The Upload page is your starting point for all case work. Every document must be uploaded before AI analysis can be performed.

Supported File Types

FormatExtensionNotes
PDF Documents.pdfText-based and scanned PDFs both supported
Word Documents.docxStandard Microsoft Word format
Scanned Images.jpg, .pngOCR text extraction applied automatically

How to Upload

1
Enter a Case Name in the field provided (e.g., "Smith v. Jones" or "Hartman Medical Malpractice")
2
Drag your document into the upload zone, or click the zone to open a file browser
3
Wait for the green success message — the document is now fully processed and ready for analysis

Loading an Existing Case

To run analysis on a document you've previously uploaded, enter the Case Name in the field and press Enter. The platform will locate the case and enable the AI Analysis buttons.

💡 Tip: Use consistent case naming across your team. Case names are searchable, so "Smith v Jones" and "Smith v. Jones" are treated as different cases.
⚠️ Note: Large scanned documents (100+ pages) may take several minutes to process due to OCR text extraction. This is normal.

🤖 3. AI Document Summarization

The Summarize Document feature reads your entire document and produces a structured legal analysis report in under 60 seconds.

What It Produces

Best Used For

💡 Tip: The more complete the document, the better the summary. Upload the full document rather than excerpts for the most accurate analysis.
⚠️ Attorney Review Required: All summaries must be reviewed by a licensed attorney before use. AI may miss nuances that are legally significant.

🎤 4. Deposition Analysis

The Deposition Analysis tool identifies contradictions, key admissions, red flags, and timeline conflicts within deposition transcripts or court documents.

What It Produces

Best Used For

💡 Tip: If you upload a court opinion rather than a raw deposition, the tool adapts and analyzes the factual record for contradictions and admissions — it works on any document type.

🏥 5. Medical Billing Audit

The Medical Billing Audit tool analyzes itemized medical bills and billing records for errors, duplicate charges, unauthorized procedures, and suspicious billing patterns.

What It Produces

Best Used For

💡 Tip: For best results, upload the complete itemized bill rather than a summary. The more detail in the document, the more precise the audit.

📝 6. Demand Package Generator

The Demand Package Generator creates a fully formatted, professional demand letter based on case information and damages figures you provide.

How to Use

1
Navigate to the Demand Package page from the navigation bar
2
Fill in the Case Information: Case Name, Date of Accident, Client Name, Defendant Name, and Accident Description
3
Enter damages in the Damages Calculator: Medical Bills, Lost Wages, and Pain & Suffering Multiplier. The Total Demand calculates automatically.
4
Click Generate Demand Package and wait 30–60 seconds for the letter to be drafted

What the Letter Includes

⚠️ Important: The generated demand letter is a professional draft. It must be reviewed, verified, and approved by a licensed attorney before transmission to any opposing party or insurer.

📅 7. Case Timeline Generator

The Timeline Generator extracts every date and event from your case documents and renders a color-coded, interactive chronological timeline.

How to Use

1
Upload your case documents on the Upload page first
2
Navigate to the Timeline page
3
Enter your Case Name and click Generate Timeline
4
Use the filter buttons (All, High, Medium, Low, Accident, Medical, Legal, Financial) to focus on specific event types

Event Categories

CategoryColorExamples
MedicalBlueDoctor visits, procedures, diagnoses
LegalGoldFilings, hearings, orders, rulings
AccidentRedIncident date, injuries sustained
FinancialGreenBills, payments, damages
💡 Tip: Each timeline event includes a source citation showing which document and page number the event was extracted from — fully traceable back to your case files.

🔍 8. Document Comparison

The Document Comparison tool performs a side-by-side analysis of two documents, identifying every difference, contradiction, and change — including subtle wording changes that may not have been redlined.

How to Use

1
Upload both documents to the same case on the Upload page
2
Navigate to the Compare page
3
Enter your Case Name to load the available documents
4
Select Document 1 and Document 2 from the dropdowns
5
Click Compare Documents and wait 60–90 seconds for the full report

What the Report Includes

💡 Pro Tip: This tool is especially powerful for detecting unredlined contract changes. If opposing counsel sends a "revised" contract without tracked changes, upload both versions and run a comparison to surface every modification.

📊 9. Case Management & Dashboard

The Dashboard provides a central view of all your cases and uploaded documents.

Features

💡 Tip: Case IDs are auto-generated in the format CASE-YYYY-NNNN. The case name you choose is what you use to load cases throughout the platform.

📤 11. Export to Word & PowerPoint

AI analysis results can be exported to Microsoft Word (.docx) or PowerPoint (.pptx) for use in client communications, presentations, or file documentation.

How to Export

⚠️ Remember: Review and edit AI output before sending any exported document to a client or filing it in any matter.

👥 12. User Management & Roles

Legal Intel Platform supports three user roles with different levels of access.

RoleAccess LevelCapabilities
AdminFull AccessAll features + user management, billing, audit log
AttorneyStandardAll AI features, document upload, export, demand packages
ParalegalLimitedDocument upload, search, view summaries

Adding Users

User accounts are created by the firm administrator. Contact your administrator to request a new account or role change.

💡 Tip: Assign the most restrictive role appropriate for each staff member. Paralegals do not need attorney-level access to perform most document management tasks.

📋 13. Audit Log & Compliance

The Audit Log records all significant actions taken within the platform, providing a complete compliance trail for your firm.

What Is Logged

Accessing the Audit Log

Navigate to Audit Log in the navigation bar. Logs are visible to attorneys and administrators. The log is read-only and cannot be modified or deleted.

💡 Compliance Note: The AI Use Acknowledgment is recorded every time a user accepts the disclaimer, creating a timestamped record that your firm used AI tools with appropriate attorney oversight — important for Texas RPC compliance.

⚖️ 14. Legal Research (CourtListener)

The Legal Research tool connects to CourtListener's database of court opinions, allowing you to search case law directly within the platform.

How to Use

1
Load a case on the Upload page
2
Use the Legal Research section to enter a search term (case name, legal concept, or citation)
3
Results show matching court opinions with citations and links to full text
💡 Tip: CourtListener contains millions of federal and state court opinions. Use specific legal terms or party names for the most relevant results.

❓ 16. Frequently Asked Questions

What file size limit is there for uploads?
The platform accepts files up to 50MB. Most legal documents are well within this limit. For very large scanned documents, consider splitting them into sections.
How long does AI analysis take?
Most analyses complete in 30–90 seconds. Document Comparison may take up to 2 minutes for long documents. The platform will show a loading indicator while processing.
Is my data secure?
Documents are stored on your firm's own server (self-hosted deployment) or on a secure hosted server (cloud deployment). Document text is sent to Anthropic's API for AI analysis under their data privacy policy. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models. For maximum confidentiality, use the self-hosted deployment option.
Does AI analysis constitute legal advice?
No. All AI output is a drafting and research aid only. It does not constitute legal advice and must be reviewed and verified by a licensed attorney before use in any legal matter.
Can I upload scanned documents?
Yes. The platform uses OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to extract text from scanned images and PDFs. Quality of results depends on scan quality — clear, high-resolution scans produce the best analysis.
What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription?
Your data is retained for a limited period after cancellation. Contact support to request a data export or deletion. For self-hosted deployments, your data remains entirely on your own server.
Can multiple users work on the same case simultaneously?
Yes. All users at your firm can access and work on cases based on their role permissions. Case data is shared across all users within your firm's account.
How do I add a new user to my firm's account?
New users are added by the firm administrator. Contact your administrator or reach out to support at kevinborchgrevink@gmail.com for assistance.
The AI analysis seems incomplete or cut off — what should I do?
This can occasionally happen with very long documents. Try running the analysis again. If the issue persists, contact support.
How do I take the platform tour again?
Click the ❓ Help button in the navigation bar on the Upload page to relaunch the guided tour at any time.
